It is impermissible to use software without the permission of its owners, because this constitutes an infringement upon their financial and intellectual rights. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The property of a Muslim is not lawful except with his willing consent." As for the money earned from such an act, if it has already been spent, there is nothing upon the doer. If it remains in his possession, he must dispose of it by spending it on public welfare.
