ما هي أركان الزواج؟

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The pillars of marriage (Nikah) are five:

1. The Formula (Sigha): This includes the offer (Ijab) from the wife's guardian (wali) and the acceptance (Qabul) from the husband.

2. The Husband: Conditions for him are that he must be lawful for the wife, specifically identified, and not in a state of ihram for Hajj or Umrah.

3. The Wife: Conditions for her are that she must be free from any impediments to marriage, specifically identified, and not in a state of ihram for Hajj or Umrah.

4. The Guardian (Wali): A woman cannot give herself in marriage, based on the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) saying: "A woman does not give another woman in marriage, nor does she give herself in marriage."

5. The Two Witnesses: Based on the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) saying: "There is no marriage except with a guardian and two just witnesses."
