Is sujood as-sahw (prostration of forgetfulness) obligatory for one who sufficed with saying "Subbuh Quddus, Rabb al-Mala'ikah wa ar-Ruh" (Glorified, Most Holy, Lord of the' Angels and the Spirit) in rukoo' (bowing) and sujood (prostration) and did not say "Subhana Rabbi al-Adheem" (Glory be to my Lord, the Most Great) or "Subhana Rabbi al-A'la" (Glory be to my Lord, the Most High)?

Whoever limits themselves in bowing to saying: "Subbuh Quddus, Rabb al-Mala'ikati wa al-Ruh" (Glorified, Most Holy, Lord of the angels and the Spirit) is not required to perform the prostration of forgetfulness (sujud al-sahw), because glorification is a Sunnah according to the majority of scholars. The Hanbalis hold that the obligatory statement is "Subhana Rabbiyal-Azeem" (Glory be to my Lord, the Most Great), while Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah is of the opinion that any form of glorification suffices, and he used other supplications reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, as evidence.
