What should a daughter do towards her mother who insults her, falsely accuses her, curses her, and asks her not to obey her father and to support her against him, knowing that the mother treats her other son, who commits grave sins, better?

If the mother's ill-treatment and abandonment of her daughter are proven, this indicates that she is a captive of Satan. It is astonishing that her motive for this is her desire to harm the father and incite the daughter to disobey him, which is an act in which obedience is not permissible, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There is no obedience in disobedience to Allah; obedience is only in what is good."

The daughter has done well by enduring her mother's harm. She should repel ill-treatment with kindness and good deeds, as Allah the Almighty said: {Repel [evil] with that which is better}. She should also frequently pray for her mother's righteousness and seek advisors from relatives or others.

It is not permissible for the sisters to obey their mother in abandoning their sister, and they must advise her. As for the brother who utters disbelief, abandons prayer, and disobeys his mother, he is in grave danger and it is obligatory to advise him and remind him of Allah the Almighty.
