What is the ruling on studying the Gospel with the aim of learning the English language?

It is permissible to learn foreign languages if the intention is to invite their people to Islam or to benefit from their knowledge. However, the method of language learning mentioned is impermissible, as it is a trick for Christianization. It is not permissible to read distorted books like the Injil (Gospel) except for a qualified scholar with the intention of refuting them. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) became angry when he saw scriptures in the hand of Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). Allah Almighty has clarified that disbelievers strive to turn Muslims away from their religion. Therefore, the wife must be prevented from going to these people, and Muslims must be warned against their deception. English can be learned through other methods that are free from suspicion.
