A Muslim residing in Western countries must adhere to several matters: he should not reside there except out of a pressing necessity, and he should be keen to associate with righteous Muslims and to communicate with Islamic centers. He must make Allah's pleasure and salvation in the Hereafter his primary goal, and he should invite non-Muslims to Islam with wisdom. He must also fulfill his covenants and not betray or act treacherously. He should deal with non-Muslims with justice and kindness, while disliking disbelief and not showing loyalty to them. Caution should be exercised regarding the temptation of women and forbidden foods and drinks. There are useful books that discuss the rulings on dealing with non-Muslims and the jurisprudence of minorities.
