What advice do you have for me while I am in a foreign country?

A Muslim's residence in lands of disbelief is not permissible except out of necessity, such as acquiring beneficial knowledge, seeking medical treatment, or for a benefit to Islam and Muslims. This necessity is to be measured according to its extent, and a Muslim must be cautious concerning his religion and character. He should seek out righteous company from among the People of the Sunnah and the Community (Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah) and keep to them, for they will aid him in his religion and protect him from deviation.
