What is your advice and guidance to a young Muslim man studying in a foreign country who has been afflicted by the tribulations of the times, such as the temptation of women and the mixing of truth with falsehood, so that he may hold fast to his religion?

When tribulations arise, a Muslim needs complete intellect to repel the tribulations of doubts, and penetrating insight to repel the tribulations of desires. Ibn Taymiyyah stated that hypocrites spread discord among Muslims, and that a believer might be affected by them due to a mistaken notion or inclination. There are specific means for steadfastness upon the truth. Furthermore, a Muslim's presence in a non-Muslim country exposes him to dangers and tribulations. Safety lies in residing in a Muslim country where he can preserve his religion. A Muslim should not reside in non-Muslim lands except out of a legitimate necessity, and emigration is obligatory for whoever fears tribulation.
