The answer

Allah has commanded us to supplicate to Him by His Most Beautiful Names and has forbidden us from deviating from them (al-ilhād). Among these deviations is inventing a new method of supplication that neither the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, nor his companions ever practiced, such as repeating a single name: "Hayy, Hayy, Hayy" (Ever-Living, Ever-Living, Ever-Living) or "Hu, Hu, Hu" (He, He, He).
