What is the standard for dealing with prayer times when visiting relatives? Does going to the mosque give the impression that commitment is difficult? And when can one take concessions while maintaining steadfastness in religion?

The religion is founded upon achieving and perfecting benefits, and warding off and minimizing harms, while being aware of their levels and weighing them with the scale of the Sharia (definition), free from personal whims. It is permissible to forgo what is desirable and superior for the sake of uniting hearts and gathering the word, just as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, refrained from building the Kaaba on the foundations of Ibrahim, due to the aversion that would cause the Quraysh. Among the situations where this is permissible is sitting for a meal with relatives and performing congregational prayer with them at home, out of consideration for them and to unite their hearts; this is a good matter and not to be disapproved of.
