What is the ruling on delaying communal prayer due to the presence of guests who cannot be left because there is no other man to stay with them, and due to the inability to instruct them to pray?

Congregational prayer in the mosque is obligatory for residents, except in case of a legitimate excuse. Those who are negligent in this regard must be advised with wisdom and gentleness. As for travelers, the matter is less strict, as it is sunnah for them to offer the shortened prayer (Salat al-Qasr). Some scholars have deemed the shortened prayer obligatory, while others hold the view that attending the mosque is obligatory if they hear the call to prayer (adhan).
