Is there any impediment to observing the night vigil on the eve of Friday?

There is no objection to performing voluntary night prayers on any night, even the night of Jumu'ah (Friday eve). However, it is disliked to single out the night of Jumu'ah for night prayers due to the prohibition stated in the words of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Do not single out the night of Jumu'ah for night prayer among all other nights." The dislike is removed by not singling it out.
