What is the ruling regarding a wife remaining with a husband who prevents her from attending Islamic events, threatens her with divorce when she seeks justice, prefers one of his other wives over her in spending his time, burdens her with all household chores, and prevents her from telling anyone what is happening?

Allah has enjoined justice in all matters, especially between children and wives, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever has two wives and inclines to one of them over the other, will come on the Day of Resurrection with half of his body leaning." Justice should be observed in housing, food, clothing, lodging, and all apparent matters.

If you feel that your husband's inclination towards the other wife and your frayed nerves are due to injustice, and you believe you can continue your life without him, we do not advise you to return to him, especially if there are no children between you.

However, if your separation from him is what has frayed your nerves and caused you the pain of loneliness after the experience of marriage, then we advise you to return to him, even if it means waiving some of your rights. But this should be after negotiating with him for justice between you as much as possible, especially since the opportunities for marriage for a divorced woman are often limited, and a divorced woman often marries an already married man.

Therefore, we encourage you to try the experience again if you can cope with the difficulties.
