How can one overcome repeated setbacks in religious commitment, and transcend the feeling of hypocrisy and lack of God's love, and get rid of the whispers of Satan that discourage repentance and cast doubt on its acceptance?

It is your right upon yourself to feel remorse and shame for past sins, but you must not despair of Allah’s mercy. Rather, begin a new, clean page with your Lord. Satan seeks to make you despair of Allah’s mercy so that you increase in disobedience after sinning. Allah Almighty has warned against despair and hopelessness, for they are characteristics of those astray and disbelievers.

Hasten to repentance and turning back to Allah, for His door is always open as long as the soul has not reached the throat, even if sins have reached the heavens. If you are sincere in your repentance, then repentance demolishes what preceded it, and Allah replaces bad deeds with good ones. By following the commands of Allah and His Messenger, and performing the obligatory prayers and supererogatory acts, you will find the love of Allah in your heart.
