Is representing prayer in TV series and films permissible, or is prayer for Allah alone?

Acting is of two types: 1. That which is free from Sharia prohibitions (such as mixing of genders, seclusion [khalwa], forbidden touching, and forbidden words). The preponderant opinion is that it is permissible, especially if a legitimate Sharia benefit results from it. 2. That which is not free from Sharia prohibitions. There is no doubt about its impermissibility.

As for acting out the performance of prayer, we know of no prohibition against it, because it is like imitating the actions of prayer to teach others without the intention of entering into it. However, it is better to perform the prayer in reality to earn the reward.
