Is acting permissible or forbidden?

Scholars have differed concerning the ruling on acting. Some have prohibited it, while others have permitted it if it is free from শরীʿআ (Islamic law) prohibitions, such as deviant ideas, the mixing of men and women, the appearance of women in an adorned display (تبرج), and musical instruments. The fatwa (religious edict) adopted by us is its permissibility if it is free from prohibitions, while taking into consideration that this condition is rarely met in the films currently widespread. Therefore, it is not permissible to participate in them or receive payment for them if these conditions are not met.
