Is it permissible for a husband to divorce his pregnant wife against her will, when he does not want to acknowledge the fetus or take responsibility for it, especially given that the wife is suffering from difficult health and psychological conditions and mistreatment from his family?

A man must treat his family well and safeguard their rights. If he desires a divorce, he is not permitted to take anything from her dowry unjustly, as Allah Almighty says: "And how could you take it while you have gone into each other and they have taken from you a solemn covenant?" (An-Nisa: 21). The solemn covenant is that which Allah has taken from men for women, either to retain them with kindness or release them with excellence, or as narrated from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Fear Allah concerning women, for you have taken them by Allah's trust, and you have made their private parts lawful to you by Allah's word." It is permissible for the husband to divorce, but he must pay maintenance and provide housing for the pregnant divorcee and her child.
