What is the ruling on the prayer and fasting of one who suffers from obsessions and doubts regarding the validity of her purification and the emission of white, fluid, mucus-like discharge? Is it semen (mani), prostatic fluid (madhi), or normal discharge, and what should she do if she sees it before or after prayer?

A person afflicted with waswasah (obsessive doubts) is advised to completely ignore it and not pay any attention to it. The frequent discharge that exits without a specific reason does not appear to be maniy (sperm) or madhiy (pre-seminal fluid). Rather, it is most likely from the pure vaginal secretions (rutubat al-farj), but it nullifies ablution (wudu). There is no need for istinja' (washing the private parts) from it, and it does not defile clothes or the body. However, it necessitates re-performing wudu if it exits before prayer. If a woman is uncertain about the type of discharge, she may choose the ruling of whichever secretion she wishes. A mere feeling that something has exited does not necessitate interrupting the prayer until she is certain of its exit. If she is certain, then interrupting the prayer is obligatory. If she is not certain, then there is nothing upon her, and there is no need to inspect after the prayer. Her prayer is valid if she finds the discharge afterward, assuming it exited later. As for fasting, it is not affected by this discharge, whether it is madhiy, maniy, or vaginal secretions.
