What is the authenticity of the statements accusing Umar ibn al-Khattab of drinking nabidh after its prohibition, and Khalid ibn al-Walid of killing a Muslim and committing adultery with his wife, and are these statements authentic and reliable?

Religious scholars have stated that Omar ibn al-Khattab was attested to by Prophet Muhammad and some companions for his virtues, and that what has been reported about him regarding the issue of intoxicants is considered among the instances where divine revelation concurred with his merits. Accusing Khalid ibn al-Walid is a fabrication by enemies of the Companions who hated him for being "a sword among the swords of Allah," which indicates their hypocrisy. Scholars have unanimously agreed that anyone who denigrates a Companion is a heretic, because they are the ones who transmitted the Qur'an and Sunnah to us. As for what is mentioned about Khalid ibn al-Walid, it is imperative to refer to trustworthy historians, as the accusations narrated about him are mere fabrications. Khalid is excused for what he did with Malik ibn Nuwayra because he believed in his disbelief, and Abu Bakr al-Siddiq excused him. Furthermore, Khalid has great virtues, such as drinking poison and saying "Bismillah" (in the name of Allah), and it did not harm him at all, and his turning red wine into vinegar through the blessing of his supplication. Also, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) bore witness to Ammar's entry into Paradise and Khalid being a sword among the swords of Allah, and the Companions unanimously esteemed and loved him.

A Muslim who is not specialized in religious knowledge should not consult misleading books. Ahl al-Sunnah (Sunnis) do not claim infallibility for anyone after the Prophet, but rather they appreciate the Companions as they deserve, and they interpret their mistakes. Reports of their shortcomings must be rejected because they are either falsehoods, distortions, or they were excused for what they did due to their ijtihad (independent reasoning), or they are human beings subject to individual errors, and they have atonements for their sins such as repentance, good deeds that erase bad deeds, and they have virtues and precedence that necessitate the forgiveness of what issued from them, and they are the best of generations.

Finally, Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah emphasizes the obligation of loyalty to believers, especially the Companions, who are the heirs of the Prophets. They are the ones who transmitted the Sunnah and the Book to us, and they have the merit of precedence and conveying what the Messenger was sent with.
