Is it permissible to marry a second wife who is geographically distant, a recent convert to Islam, given the inability to reside with her except during holidays, and to suffice with corresponding with her and supporting her financially?

Polygyny is legislated in Islam, as Allah the Almighty says: "Then marry those that please you of [other] women, two or three or four." The norm for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, his Companions, and the Salaf (pious predecessors) was polygyny. For it to be permissible, justice between wives is required in terms of lodging, dwelling, sustenance, and clothing. Whoever fears not being able to be just is forbidden from polygyny and must limit himself to one wife. Allah the Almighty says: "But if you fear that you will not be just, then [marry only] one." Therefore, it is not permissible to prefer one over the other except with her consent. It is also not permissible to proceed with marrying another woman except with justice or with the permission of the wife who would otherwise be wronged.
