What is the path to salvation from the ill-effects of a disobedient person's disobedience? And does Allah hold a Muslim accountable who sits with transgressors for reasons other than disobedience, such as for work or kinship, without condoning or participating in their falsehood, knowing that their transgression does not reach the level of grave sins?

Whoever sits with people of sin to advise them, remind them, enjoin good, and forbid evil, will not be afflicted by the ill effects of sin, for Allah Almighty says: "And there is no accountability upon those who fear Allah concerning them [the sinners] for anything, but [it is] only a reminder that perhaps they will fear Allah." Al-Sa'di explained this by saying that whoever employs the fear of Allah in enjoining good and forbidding evil, there is no blame or sin upon him. However, whoever joins them or remains silent about them, that is forbidden.
