If the wife breaks her fast during due to a legitimate Shar'i excuse such as illness or menstruation, the husband must remind her of the obligation to make up those days before the next Ramadan arrives, as they are a debt upon her. However, if she breaks her fast without a legitimate Shar'i excuse, the husband must explain to her the seriousness of this act, and that it is one of the major sins, and he should strongly advise her and command her to sincere repentance and to make up the days she missed.
