Is it permissible for an in-kind donation to substitute for a cash donation of the same amount as the suspected profit, calculating the value of the in-kind item based on its purchase price or its current price, given that the donated item might have been acquired for free?

It is not permissible for a Muslim to enter into a corrupt contract or one prohibited by Sharia, even if he intends to donate what he earns from it, due to the prohibition of engaging in forbidden contracts. A Muslim must distance himself from doubtful matters to safeguard his religion and honor. Whoever enters into a corrupt contract and acquires wealth from it must dispose of this wealth by spending it on general Muslim interests or by giving it to the poor and needy. If a person is unaware of the amount of wealth, he must give what he believes is most likely to absolve him. It is permissible to give the poor in-kind items equivalent to the market value of the money.
