How is the saying that the distance between the Earth and the Heaven is a 500-year journey to be interpreted, so as to avoid contradiction with the true astronomical dimensions?

Most of the hadiths that specify the distance between the heaven and the earth as five hundred years are weak, and if authentic, they might refer to Allah's reckoning, as a day with Him is like a thousand years of what we count.
