The answer

Satan adorns people's deeds for them, and he may approach them through various entry points, such as negligence or extremism. He may also approach them through the door of love for Allah and fraternal relations if he fails to ensnare them in forbidden relationships. Therefore, praise be to Allah for His concealment and kindness, as no indecency occurred between you, and He guided you to sever the relationship. Complete your repentance to Allah, and cut off Satan's snares. If you do that and rectify what emanated from you, then seek Allah's guidance through Istikhara concerning marriage, "And enter homes through their doors. And fear Allah that you may succeed" (Quran 2:189). Investigate the character of each of you and your families. If that relationship was a slip, then strive to complete the marriage soon. The beginning was wrong, but it is not wise to abandon the drowning person. We advise you to marry after performing Istikhara and supplicating to Allah for success, for the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "We have not seen for two who love one another anything like marriage."
