Is it to be understood from the hadith of Al-Aswad bin Sari' which was narrated by Ahmad, that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said about Umar ibn Al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him: "This is a man who does not love falsehood," after Umar asked for permission and was "adlam," that Umar ibn Al-Khattab was black in color?

The hadith that speaks of a man, "adlam," coming to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was deemed weak by Al-Albani and Al-Arna'oot. "Adlam" means black and tall, and it has been said that this man was Umar ibn Al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him. The narrations have differed in describing the color of Umar, may Allah be pleased with him; it was said: white with a reddish tinge, and it was said: dark-skinned, intensely so, which Imam Ibn Abd Al-Barr and others authenticated.
