What is the ruling on a wife taking personal pictures of herself in decorative clothing and sending them to her family and friends via the Internet?
We have previously favored the permissibility of photographic and video imaging, especially out of need and necessity, provided that it is free from anything that is impermissible to photograph. It is better to avoid it if there is no need for it. Your wife's action, in this case, contradicts asceticism. As for her sending the photos, if the photos are free from nudity and secure from spreading to non-mahram individuals, then there is no harm in sending them to her righteous female friends and relatives, provided that there is no fear of some of them being infatuated with others. However, sending them to male relatives is not permissible, because a woman should not adorn herself for anyone other than her husband, in order to block the means to temptation.
