Is it permissible to refrain from advising someone for fear of falling into sin, and is this a deception from Satan, and how can one distinguish between the two?

Enjoining good and forbidding evil, and calling to Allah, are among the greatest protections for a Muslim against tribulations (fitan). This is because a person is either a caller (to truth) or one who is called (to falsehood). If one does not influence others with the truth, they might be influenced by the falsehood of others, just as the believer from the family of Pharaoh said: "O my people, what is wrong with me that I call you to salvation while you call me to the Fire?" (Quran 40:41). Fear of tribulation when offering advice is a deception from Satan. Rather, undertaking da'wah (calling to Islam) and offering advice protects you from tribulations. Seek help from Allah and call with insight, and strive to learn what is necessary for you. Do not call or advise unless you are certain of the knowledge of what you are calling to, and use gentleness in your call.
