Does God forgive sins, no matter how great they are, and can more be done to make parents happy?
A sound repentance erases what preceded it, and Allah rejoices in His servant's repentance, replacing his evil deeds with good ones. Filial piety is a sign of accepted repentance. Among the signs of accepted repentance is that the servant becomes better after repentance than he was before it. The servant must balance between fear and hope, for both motivate the servant to abandon sins and strive in acts of obedience. Allah says: "I am as My servant expects Me to be; if he thinks good, then it is good, and if he thinks evil, then it is evil."
