Scholars have differed on the ruling concerning eating game caught by a hawk (bazi) if the hawk eats from it. Some scholars view it as unlawful by analogy with a dog, while others permit it because the training of a hawk relies on eating. This is the view of Ibn Abbas, Al-Nakha'i, Al-Thawri, and Abu Hanifa. However, if an un-trained dog is found with a trained dog, and it is unknown which of them killed the game, or if it is known that the un-trained dog was the killer, then the game is not lawful.
