What is the ruling on saying "I do not know" to the ruler when the questioner knows the answer?

Denying knowledge of something you have learned is a forbidden lie, because it is an informing contrary to reality. And if your not informing about what you were asked about leads to the squandering of others' rights — without any harm coming to you from informing — then it is among the forbidden concealment of testimony.
