It is permissible to control the gender of the fetus if the IVF process is permissible. The two permissible cases for the IVF process are: taking the husband's sperm and fertilizing his wife's egg in her womb, or fertilization between the spouses' gametes outside the womb and then placing it in the wife's womb. A condition for the permissibility of these two cases is the inability of the couple to conceive naturally and their not having any children.
