It is permissible to draw a human figure from behind, so that the face does not appear, because it is like a shadow or has an effaced face, and is not considered a صورة (complete image). This is supported by the that commands the cutting off of the head of a statue to remove its resemblance to a human. However, drawing a complete human figure from the side, where some facial features appear, such as one eye, or two eyes without a mouth and nose, is not permissible; because it is a complete صورة that possesses the resemblance to Allah's creation.
