"Exceeding in construction is one of the signs of the Hour, as stated in the Hadith (definition) of Gabriel. Its meaning is boasting in the lengthening of buildings, their adornment, and the multiplication of their facilities. Al-Nawawi interpreted it as the world being expanded for people in need, so they boast in construction. Exceeding in construction occurs by increasing the number of floors of houses, enlarging them, and beautifying them. This is prevalent due to the abundance of wealth and the expansion of worldly possessions. However, this is not blameworthy if it does not lead to tyranny, boasting, or extravagance."
