What is the wisdom or purpose behind specifying a certain number for the repetition of some invocations, such as morning and evening remembrances, and what are the consequences of error in this number?

The scholars have not discussed the wisdom behind specifying the numbers of the prescribed dhikr (remembrance of Allah). A Muslim should act upon what is established in the Sharia. It is disliked to intentionally exceed the specified number in the prescribed dhikr. As for one who makes a mistake, نقص or adds out of forgetfulness, we hope that they will not be deprived of the reward.
