Is the waiting period (iddah) obligatory after a private meeting (khalwa) and before consummation (dukhool), if the husband enjoyed his wife without penetration, and what is its description, and is it permissible for her to go out and adorn herself during it, and what is the ruling on one who did not observe it due to her ignorance of that?

Seclusion between spouses after a valid marriage contract necessitates the full Mahr (dowry) and Iddah (waiting period) upon the wife. This is what the Rightly Guided Caliphs and the majority of scholars have affirmed. Therefore, the wife must complete her Iddah. If the divorce is revocable, there is no harm in her adorning herself and going out with the husband's permission. If it is irrevocable, there is a difference of opinion among scholars regarding observing Ihdad (mourning). What is given as fatwa by us is that she does not have to observe Ihdad, and she may go out during the day for a need, but not at night unless it is out of necessity. If the ترك العدة (non-observance of the waiting period) occurred previously out of ignorance, there is no sin upon her, and she must complete what remains of it.
