If the alcohol used for treatment is intoxicating, then it is not permissible to clean wounds with it, because an intoxicating liquid is impure according to the majority of scholars. Deliberately staining the body with an impure substance without need is forbidden. This is even more emphasized concerning alcoholic beverages, as Malik disliked the use of intoxicants for anointing or coating the body for medicinal purposes.
