Why is it disliked to name a son "Furqan," and is it permissible to name him "Imran" and other names of prophets and surahs that are similar, and do the names "Huda" and "Sakinah" imply self-praise?

It is disliked to be named "Furqan" because it is one of the names exclusive to the Quran and involves excessive commendation. It is recommended to change this name.

There is no objection to being named "Imran"; indeed, a group of the Companions were named thus.

Most scholars hold the view that it is permissible to be named after Prophets, and this is the preponderant opinion, citing the action of the Prophet (peace be upon him) naming his son Ibrahim, and the hadith: "Indeed, they used to name themselves after their Prophets and the righteous ones before them."

There is no dislike in being named "Sakinah" as it does not contain commendation.

As for names like "Huda," "Bayan," "Tuqa," and "Iman," some scholars disliked them due to their inclusion of commendation, while others permitted them. It is safer to avoid names that pose an issue, but if one is named with them, there is no harm, as the prohibition concerning them is one of dislike (tanzih), not prohibition (tahrim).
