"Is it permissible for a woman to expose her breasts in front of her Mahrams in order to breastfeed her child if she is certain there will be no temptation, or not? "
A woman's 'awrah in front of her mahrams, such as her father and brother, is her entire body except for what commonly appears, like the face, hair, neck, forearms, and feet. The noble verse (An-Nur/31) permits the display of adornment and its places to mahrams. Scholars have stated that what commonly appears, such as the hair, face, neck, hands, and feet, falls within what is permissible to show.
Despite mahrams being equal in the permissibility of showing adornment to them, their ranks differ in terms of closeness and the prevention of temptation. Thus, it is permissible to show a certain extent to a father that is not permissible to show to a stepson. Accordingly, a woman is required to cover her breasts when breastfeeding her child in front of one of her mahrams. This is done by breastfeeding from under a cover or similar, out of consideration for modesty and keenness on covering.
