Death is the soul's departure from the body, and a person does not die a second death thereafter. Rather, the soul connects with the body in the (interim period) in a manner whose nature is known only to Allah. For this reason, the questioning in the grave and its tribulations occur. A person lives in their grave a barzakhi life whose nature is known only to Allah, either in bliss or in torment. This life is not like the life of this world.
