- What is the ruling on someone who claims to have dreamt of something when he has not?

Whoever claims to have seen something in a dream which he did not see, has committed a great lie and a grave forbidden act. It has been reported from the Prophet (peace be upon him) that this is among the greatest fabrications, and that whoever dreams a dream he did not see will be tasked to tie two grains of barley together.
