Is it necessary to do something to elaborate on a dream I did not see, and by doing so, would I fall under the Prophet’s — may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him — saying: "Whoever claims to have seen a dream he has not seen will be tasked with tying two barley grains together, and he will never be able to do so"?

Lying about a dream is one of the greatest fabrications, and it carries a severe warning. Its perpetrator will be tasked on the Day of Judgment to tie two barley grains together. It is a lie against Allah because a dream is a part of prophethood. It is not permissible to lie about a dream for the public good, such as deterring someone from a sin. Rather, one must repent from it and pursue lawful means in calling to Allah.
