Cosmetic procedures are of two types: those to remove a disfiguring flaw are permissible, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) permission for Arfajah ibn Sa'd to wear a nose made of gold. However, excessive beautification for the purpose of increasing beauty is forbidden, because the Prophet (peace be upon him) cursed the namisah (one who plucks eyebrows) and the mutanammasah (one who has her eyebrows plucked), the wasilah (one who adds hair extensions) and the mustawsilah (one who has hair extensions added), and the washimah (one who tattoos) and the mustawshimah (one who has tattoos). Based on this, altering eyebrows that are not disfigured is considered nams (plucking), and its doer is cursed. Creating eyelashes without a pressing need is considered altering Allah's creation, especially if they are permanent. As for temporary eyelashes, it is better to avoid them due to their resemblance to hair extensions.
