What is the ruling on passing the hand over the chest when the Imam recites "Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah"?

If a worshiper moves his finger when the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, is mentioned in prayer, his action may be unintentional or intentional. If he intends by it to believe in its merit or seek reward and makes it a habit, then this is impermissible, as it has not been mentioned in the Sharia, and this matter is Tawqifi (dependent on divine textual evidence). If he does not intend by it to seek reward, then it is a reprehensible movement for no need. And if it is for supplication or sending blessings upon the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, then it is not prescribed in obligatory prayers, but it is permissible in supererogatory prayers without raising the hands. The worshiper should maintain khushu' (devotion) and not look away, for he is intimately conversing with his Lord.
