A woman is permitted to seek divorce due to harm inflicted upon her by her husband, such as verbal abuse, physical assault, or abandonment without a legitimate religious reason. However, it is not advisable to rush into this. Instead, the husband should be counseled and reminded of the importance of good companionship. It is also beneficial to seek the help of virtuous individuals to pray for him. The husband must not oppress his wife and should assist her in maintaining ties with her relatives. He should not prevent her family from visiting her. If this is not possible, the wife should maintain ties with her relatives through other available means of communication.
