Is the intention underlying the words of innuendo—uttered out of ignorance that divorce would result from them—considered a definitive intention of divorce that dissolves the marital bond?

Divorce by allusive phrases (kinayat al-talaq (definition)) does not occur unless there is an intention to effect divorce through them. So, if a man says to his wife, "Stay away from me," and does not intend divorce by it, it does not take place. Therefore, there is no problem in using these words if divorce is not intended by them. Those afflicted with obsessive doubts (waswasah) are advised to refrain from repeatedly asking about divorce and reading about it, so as not to reinforce the obsession.
