How is the noble verse reconciled with the Prophetic حديث (Hadith) that mentions the perishing of people who are not among the wrongdoers when the army is swallowed by the earth?

There is no contradiction between the noble verse and the noble hadith, because the reason for the army's being swallowed by the earth, including those not involved in combat, is their augmenting the ranks of the wrongdoers. So, whoever willingly increases the numbers of a people in sin is subject to punishment along with them. The destruction mentioned in the verse includes the destruction of punishment in this world and the destruction of torment on the Day of Judgment due to polytheism, and "wrongdoing" here means polytheism. Those who were swallowed by the earth and had no intention of invading the Kaaba will not suffer the torment of destruction on the Day of Judgment, for "they will be resurrected according to their intentions," meaning whoever acted willingly will be held accountable, and whoever was coerced will be saved.
