What is the religious ruling on searing the tongue with fire to discern a person's truthfulness from their falsehood?

Tormenting with fire is not permissible, due to the prohibition of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding it, which was affirmed by Fatwa No. 38014. The treatment for lying is through legitimate means, such as striving for truthfulness, avoiding falsehoods, and contemplating the punishment for liars.
