Is it permissible to get to know multiple girls at the same time for comparison and selection, and is it permissible to have mutual admiration while knowing that one will only marry one, in light of searching for the best and polygyny being forbidden in my country?
You may appoint your mother, sister, or any other woman to search for a wife with the desired specifications, and to learn about her physical and moral characteristics. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, sent Umm Sulaym to look at a female slave. If there is mutual agreement, it is permissible for you to look at the betrothed woman in the presence of a , based on the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "If one of you proposes to a woman, and if he is able to look at what would encourage him to marry her, then let him do so." Your focus should be on the woman's righteousness and character, as this is the basis for choosing a wife. As for beauty and wealth, they are not among the essentials. He, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "A woman is married for four reasons: for her wealth, for her lineage, for her beauty, and for her religion. So, choose the religious one, and you will prosper."
