What is the legal ruling in Islamic law regarding the return of a wife after divorcing her three times with the pronouncement "You are divorced, divorced, divorced," following a previous divorce with the pronouncement "You are divorced"?

The divorce that is in accordance with the Sunnah is a single divorce during a period of purity (tuhr) in which no sexual intercourse has occurred. If a man divorces his wife during a period of purity in which he has had intercourse with her, the divorce is valid. Thus, your first divorce is a single divorce, and you can take your wife back as long as she is within her waiting period ('iddah). If her waiting period expires and you have not taken her back, a new marriage contract is required. As for repeating "You are divorced, divorced, divorced," a sufficient answer is provided in Fatwa no. 32933.
